Trainee Captain

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on individual to join our team as a Trainee Captain. This entry-level role is designed to provide on-the-job training and sea time required to obtain a Coxswain Grade 1 Certificate of Competency, while working along Melbourne’s iconic Yarra River.
What You’ll Do
As a Trainee Captain, you will gain valuable experience across a wide range of marine operations, including:
- Assisting with day-to-day operations of our self-drive hire boat fleet
- Conducting pre-hire and post-hire safety checks
- Delivering safety briefings to hirers
- Performing cleaning, maintenance, and basic upkeep of vessels
- Supporting charter operations as a deckhand aboard our luxury charter boats Lady M and Birrarung
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation across the fleet
- Accumulating practical sea time towards your Coxswain certification

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Basic mechanical knowledge (advantageous, not essential)
- Commitment to completing the full 18-month traineeship and obtaining a Coxswain Grade 1 Certificate
